1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter - room temperature - plus more for pan
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/4 cups sugar
3 eggs
3 ripe bananas - mashed
1 cup chopped walnuts

preheat oven to 350 F. butter a 9-by-5-by-3-inch loaf pan and set aside. whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.

then in a bowl with a mixer or with a stand mixer, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. then add the eggs one at a time, scraping down the sides of the bowl periodically. alternate adding the flour mixture and the bananas in 3 parts. once blended add the walnuts and mix until just combined.

add the batter to the loaf pan. bake for ~70 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. let cool for 10 minutes. use a butter knife to loosen the bread and then turn out onto a cooling rack and let the bread cool completely.
